Presbyopia (visual fatigue)

It is the gradual loss of the eyes' ability to focus on close objects.

The crystalline lens is a natural lens that can change its shape and power thanks to its elasticity, allowing to focus images at different distances. After the age of 40, it gradually loses this ability.

It is common to notice the onset of this condition when reading small letters with difficulty or having to move the text away to be able to focus as before. It can also manifest itself as visual fatigue and can be accompanied by headaches.

Presbyopia can be confirmed by a basic eye exam and can be corrected with glasses or contact lenses. You may also consider surgery.

If you have any of these symptoms, it is important to have your eyes checked by a specialist.
